EX•TRACTS Best New Product Awards Presented at NYIGF

Six companies were presented with EX•TRACTS® Best New Product Awards today, with Mosaiq receiving “Best of Show” honors for Mosaiq Fragranced Candles & Diffusers. EX•TRACTS, one of 10 divisions of the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®), runs through today at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Additional EX•TRACTS awards are presented in five categories: Bath & Body, Beauty Accessory, Cosmetic & Fragrance, Natural/Organic and Packaging. Winners and finalists in each category were selected by a panel of trade and consumer editors based on criteria, including innovative design, creative use of materials/construction and use of new materials/technology.

The EX•TRACTS Best New Products awards are presented semi-annually at NYIGF. The winter 2013 winners and finalists, selected from 100+ products, are:

BEST OF SHOW:
Mosaiq (West Jordan, UT) for Mosaiq Fragranced Candles and Diffusers, two complementary product collections of nearly 30 floral and herbal scents, presented in custom, hand-blown glass vessels.

BATH & BODY CATEGORY:
Winner: Gianna Rose Atelier® (Edison, NJ) for the “Made in the USA” Gardener Collection Garden Boots, a pair of boot-shaped soaps, which are 100% vegetable-based, triple-milled, and presented in shoe box-style packaging.
Finalist: Thymes® (Minneapolis, MN) for Thymes® Temple Tree Jasmine Body Lotion.
Finalist: Votivo (Spartanburg, SC) for Lock Your Love Perfume.

BEAUTY ACCESSORY CATEGORY:
Winner: Abahna™ (London, England) for compact Make-up/Cosmetic Bag, which includes a small mirror and is available in three rich color patterns.
Finalist: Niche Marketing & Sales, Inc. (Parkland, FL) for Lisa Hoffman Fragranced Jewelry.
Finalist: Bote à Savon (Simi Valley, CA) for Luxe Candles.

COSMETIC & FRAGRANCE CATEGORY:
Winner: Royal Apothic (Los Angeles, CA) for Conservatories Eau de Parfums collection of seven botanical fragrances inspired by England’s stately homes and gardens, and capped with a porcelain sculpture of its flower namesake.
Finalist: Studio Hall, Inc. (St. Louis, MO) for Milk Body Wash.
Finalist: Esteban Paris Parfums (Torrance, CA) for Esteban’s Scent Spheres.

NATURAL/ORGANIC CATEGORY:
Winner: Caldrea® (Minneapolis, MN) for Aromatherapeutic Body Collection of soaps, lotions, and balms available in three fragrances: aloe water apricot; tea olive lime; and coconut fig leaf.
Finalist: Whats Hot! Inc. (Woodbury, NY) for Frais Luxury Products for Australia.
Finalist: J.R. Watkins Naturals (Winona, MN) for Apricot and Pequi Oil Body Butter.

PACKAGING CATEGORY:
Winner: Belle Fleur (New York, NY) for Sa Majeste La Rose collection of four scents of roses harvested from different regions of the world, presented in a purple glass vessel in homage to the Purple Rose, the “Queen” of flowers.
Finalist: ILLUME® (Bloomington, MN) for Color Block Tin Candle.
Finalist: AQUIESSE® (Simi Valley, CA) for White Currents Collection.

“Our panel of judges, representing a variety of perspectives within the industry, were impressed by these stand-out products,” said Melissa Engongoro, EX•TRACTS sales manager. “These products were rewarded for their unique, fresh take on personal care products.”

The Best New Product Award judges were: Candice Sabatini, Beautynews NYC; Tina Benitez-Eves,Gifts & Decorative Accessories; Susan Tucker, Giftware News; Regina Molaro, Beauty Store Business; Jolene Turner, American Salon; Jamie Matusow, Beauty Packaging; Paula Kajankova,Insiders Guide to Spa’s/Spirituality & Health; and Hillary Wehrle, Beautifile.

EX•TRACTS features 100 exhibitors of cosmetics, perfumes, skincare, bath & body care, beauty accessories, haircare, natural and organic products and well-being lines.
