Southport, NC – People who have visited beach towns along the Atlantic coast may have noticed one thing most of them had that Southport did not – a taffy and fudge factory. Mark and Diane Salyer noticed it right away when they moved down here 10 years ago. And they decided to do something about it.

Mark had often visited the Jersey shore when he was a bachelor, and he spent the summers with his family at various communities along the Carolina coast. Everyplace he could remember had a taffy shop. For Mark, that was as much a part of the shore as the seashells and surf.

But there wasn”t one in Southport or on Oak Island.
