Fans brave long lines to get their claws on Texas Rangers gear
Texas Rangers fans found empty shelves and long lines as they headed out Saturday morning to buy gear to celebrate the team’s first trip to the World Series. Even the Grand Slam Gift Shop at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington sold out of what everyone wanted – those red T-shirts emblazoned with the words “American League Champions.” But no worries, more shipments were coming in.
“We had enough after the game,” said retail operations manager Kevin MacKenzie. “We even had a few left this morning.”
But those disappeared quickly, and the lines started forming. Another shipment was on its way.
When the boxes arrived as scheduled, staff immediately tore them open.
“These are hot off the presses,” MacKenzie said. The shirts did feel warm.
The line finally started moving. Customers could buy as many as they wanted, and some bought several.
