Five Best New Product Awards Presented at Summer 2013 New York Home Textiles Market Week

Five companies participating in Home Textiles Market Week® in New York City were named recipients of Home Textiles Best New Product Awards today, with Couture Dreams receiving the “Best of Market” award for its Chichi Throw. All of the honorees are eligible for a first-ever “Best of HOME” Award, which will be determined by online balloting during NY NOW ®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), which runs Saturday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

In addition to the overall “Best of Market” distinction, Best New Product Awards are presented semi-annually in four categories: Bed, Bath, Dining and Home Accessories. A panel of trade and consumer editors select winners and finalists based on criteria including innovation in design, creative use of materials/construction and new fiber, material or technology.

The summer 2013 winners and finalists, selected from more than 70 products, are:

BEST OF MARKET:

Couture Dreams (Wading River, NY) for its Chichi Throw, crafted from Chichi flax and ivory linen.The oversized throw (50″x70″) is 100% machine washable and can double as a table runner.

BED:

Winner: Tribute Goods (Houston, TX) for its Water-Sea Glass, bedding collection based on the elements – Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Bedding is made in the USA of finest Italian woven Egyptian cotton sateen.

Finalist: Silk Story Llc (Alpharetta, GA) for its Raeshmi Silk Habotai Comforter.

Finalist: DownRight Ltd. (Brooklyn, NY) for its eiderdown comforter.

BATH:

Winner: Scents and Feel (Miami, FL) for its bath towel and hand towel in new herringbone, a chic new bath set in herringbone with stripes in “Couture Sellier”.

Finalist: Pom Pom Home (Burbank, CA) for its Gwen hamlock lace shower curtain.

Finalist: Scintilla (Reykjavik, Iceland) for its scented towels.

DINING:

Winner: Pom Pom at Home (Burbank, CA) for its Chloe placemat.

Finalist: Couture Dreams (Wading River, NY) for its Whisper Napkins.

Finalist: LinenMe (Chicago, Il) for its Antico Burgundy Linen Runner.

HOME ACCESSORIES:

Winner: Pine Cone Hill (Pittsfield, MA) for its Bargello woven jute rug, hand loomed with the weft guided by hand and a loop at each thread crossing to create a highly textured rug.

Finalist: Scents and Feel (Miami, FL) for its throw Natte and pillow.

Finalist: Traditions Linens (Claverack, NY) for its Rustic Linen Collection.

“This market brought an influx of new looks in home textiles,” said Danielle Giacoponello, Home Furnishings + Textiles sales manager. “Our judges discovered several which truly impressed with their fashion-forward blend of design and function.”

All five winning products automatically qualify for consideration in the first NY NOW “Best of Home” Award, which will be determined through online voting at www.redclay.com/nynow. “Peoples’ Choice” balloting runs August 17-20, and the winner will be announced on August 21.

The panel of judges included: Duke Ratliff, HFN; Jenny Heinzen York, Home Accents Today; Laura van Zeyl and Nancy Robinson, Home Fashion Forecast; Jennifer Marks, Home Textiles Today; and Wanda Jankowski, LDB Interior Textiles.

Presented as part of NY NOW’s HOME Collection, Home Furnishings + Textiles features 200+ suppliers of mid-to-high-end bed and bath fashions, such as table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics.
