Five Best New Product Awards Presented at Summer 2012 New York Home Textiles Market Week

Four companies participating in Home Textiles Market Week® in New York City were presented with “Best New Product Awards” today, with Alicia Adams Alpaca Inc.™ receiving the “Best of Market” award for its Suri fur bedspread. All of the winners and finalists are exhibitors in At Home featuring Home Textiles at the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®), which runs through Wednesday, August 22, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Four additional “Best New Product Awards” were presented in individual categories: Bed, Bath, Dining and Home Accessories. A panel of trade and consumer editors selected winners and finalists based on criteria including innovation in design, creative use of materials/construction and new fiber, material or technology.

The summer 2012 winners and finalists, selected from nearly 100 products, are:

BEST OF MARKET:
Alicia Adams Alpaca Inc.™ (Stanfordville, NY) for its Suri fur bedspread, made from luxurious Suri fur and baby alpaca herringbone fabric.

BED:
Winner: SFERRA (Edison, NJ) for its Dario duvet covers and shams, featuring twill herringbone stripes and slim geometric bands woven into a stunning pattern.
Finalist: Peakcock Alley Inc. (Dallas, TX) for Biagio duvet cover and shams.
Finalist: Dallas A. Saunders (Geyserville, CA) for its Thea Schrack – Dogwood Pillow Triptych.

BATH:
Winner: Alicia Adams Alpaca Inc.™ (Stanfordville, NY) for its luxurious herringbone unisex bathrobe, made of 100 percent ultra-soft, hypoallergenic baby alpaca.
Finalist: Busatti since 1842 (Tuscany, Italy) for linen Giglio towels.
Finalist: Scents and Feel (Miami, FL) for its Fouta towel and Lurex handtowel.

DINING:
Winner: Black Pepper Dessin (New Delhi, India) for its Noir Flora table runner and placemat, featuring gold brocaded flowers on a backdrop of floral hand-embroidered bouquets, made of 100 percent linen.
Finalist: MATOUK (New York, NY) for its Lulu DK for MATOUK table linens.
Finalist: ecoaccents™ (Raleigh, NC) for its eco-Mats.

HOME ACCESSORIES:
Winner: HEDGEHOUSE™ (Beverly Hills, CA) for The Throw Bed, a portable and versatile twin-sized down and fiber-filled cushion weighing only four pounds, featuring a removable and washable linen or cotton cover.
Finalist: Simple Syrup Design House (Nashville, TN) for Honey Child decorative pillows.
Finalist: Blissliving® Home (Rockville, MD) for its Chateau throw and pillow.

“With so many superlative products to consider, our judges were truly challenged to narrow the field,” said Danielle Giacopenello, At Home featuring Home Textiles sales manager. “In the end, these products were chosen as most representative of visionary design direction and innovation in home textiles.”

The panel of judges included: David Gill, HFN; Jenny Heinzen-York, Home Accents Today; Wanda Jankowski, LDB Interior Textiles; Tori Jones, Veranda; Karl Lohnes, CTV/Metro Media; Jennifer Marks, Home Textiles Today; Susan Tucker, Giftware News; and Laura van Zeyl, Home Fashion Forecast.

New York Home Textiles Market Week offers buyers access to nearly 600 better bed, bath, linen and home products vendors at the New York International Gift Fair (located at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94), 230 Fifth Avenue, and 7 West 34th Street. Products represented at each of these venues include bed and bath fashions, table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics.

The winter 2013 edition of Home Textiles Market Week will take place Friday, January 25, through Wednesday, January 30, in New York City.
