For nearly seven decades, the REAs have served as the longest running  awards program for independent retailers in the gift and home industry. Gift for Life’s Industry Achievement Award, which has been presented at the REAs since 2009, recognizes overall excellence and contribution to the gift and home industry – whether as a thought leader, standard-bearer or overall industry influencer.

Adam Glassman has been Creative Director of O, The Oprah Magazine since 2000, overseeing O’s style pages, all aspects of the magazine’s cover shoots and the highly anticipated O Favorite Things. Since 2007, Glassman has been fielding questions from O readers on a wide range of fashion topics for his monthly Adam Says column and was a pioneer in using real women for fashion shoots in the magazine.

Prior to joining OAdam was a contributing editor to House and Garden and Style Director at SELF magazine. Adam has also worked as a freelance stylist and art director for clients including: GAP, Ethan Allen, Spanish Vogue, Saks Fifth Avenue and London Fog.

Glassman serves as a correspondent for EXTRA sharing his expertise, style and wit for millions of viewers, which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award in 2016. He appears regularly on Good Morning America, The View and other national television shows.

“Adam is an incredible style spotter and product authority who has helped so many companies succeed by highlighting them in the pages of the magazine and recommending them for the annual Oprah’s Favorite Things list,” said Matthew Katzenson, chair of the Gift for Life board. “Each year he travels to our industry trade events across the country and highlights products that in turn drive sales at the wholesale and retail levels. Thousands of companies, large and small, have benefitted from the support of Adam and his team and we are thrilled to be able to honor his ongoing contributions.”

The Gift for Life Industry Achievement Award will be presented to Adam at the 69th Annual Retailer Excellence Awards (REAs), on Wednesday, June 24, at The Tower Club in downtown Dallas. The Retailer Excellence Awards recognize excellence in seven retail awards categories, as well as the vendor and manufacturer’s rep of the year distinctions.

Gift for Life was founded by Peter Schauben of Appleman Schauben in 1992 in response to the tragic loss of industry lives to AIDS.  The organization’s first meeting at the National Stationery Show brought together a cross-section of the industry’s leading publishers, market centers, sales reps, manufacturers and retailers – all willing to convene and work together towards a common goal.  Since that time, Gift for Life has raised more than $5 million for AIDS research, education, treatment and care through nationwide at-market events, cause marketing programs and direct donations.  Proceeds from Gift for Life activities benefit DIFFA’s (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) grant-making to fight HIV/AIDS.
