Gift Box Opens At MHCBy Klark ByrdSunTelegraph.com

Sidney, NE – Memorial Health Center’s recently reopened gift shop is more than just a store offering “get well soon” cards and stuffed animals. The Gift Box is a volunteer effort carrying a line of goods from local businesses to create an atmosphere of hospitality for all who find themselves on the hospital’s campus.

“The gift shop is an important part of our service offering at MHC,” said Jim Hansel, hospital COO and Health Center Foundation executive director. “The focus of the Gift Box is to support the needs of the MHC guests by providing an enhanced level of products.”

The Health Center Foundation made the shop’s reopening possible after it was closed last year due to reorganization. The Gift Box features an updated interior and an increased assortment of goods available through partnerships with area businesses. Hansel said Hospitality Partners, a health center volunteer program, helps with the operation of the store.

Hospitality Partners is one element of the Health Center Foundation Helping Hands Volunteer program that is also comprised of Hospice: Extended Care and Assisted Living areas and Spiritual Care services. The Foundation said one program goal is to increase the amount of participating individuals as it supports the needs of patients, residents and staff.
