Growing Marketing Automation Startup SnapRetail Raises $1.5M and Increases Sales Team

Pittsburgh, PA – A Pittsburgh-based SaaS (software-as-a-service) marketing automation startup, SnapRetail, continues to grow with the completion of the first of a two-part funding series, closing on $1.5 million. The company is seeking another $1.5M – $2M to complete the round.

The company, a web-based sales and marketing solution for independent store owners, will use the funding to grow its sales team. Since February, SnapRetail has increased this team from 3 to 12, with plans to grow to a 20 and 40 person team by the end of 2013 and 2014 respectively.

The need for a larger sales team stems from SnapRetail’s expansion into vertical markets outside of gift and home décor, the company’s initial target market. The company now serves the 1,000,000+ independent merchants in the English speaking world in more than 45 different vertical markets, including apparel, books, furniture, home décor, ice cream shops, floral, gift, hardware, jewelry, luggage, pharmacy, salons, scrap booking and toy. SnapRetail has experienced rapid growth and has more than doubled its subscription revenues in each of the last two years.

Local merchants use SnapRetail to plan and deliver their marketing, including email and social media campaigns. The company’s unique value proposition is that it provides thousands of professionally designed and pre-written social media posts and email templates specific to the retail industry.

With a current work force of about 40 people, SnapRetail is also hiring team members outside of sales to meet the growing demand for its service. Open positions include various software engineering roles and marketing consultants who help retailers utilize SnapRetail’s products to drive store traffic. Information on open positions can be found at www.snapretail.com/about/Careers.

Questions can be directed to SnapRetail’s CEO, Ted Teele at ted.teele@snapretail.com.
