Dartmouth, MA — After nearly 50 years of marriage and 36 years as business partners, Marge and Herb Seltzer have quite possibly perfected the art of gift giving.

“The time has gone by so quickly, it’s incredible,” said Mrs. Seltzer, owner of Seltzer Gift Shop in North Dartmouth.

“It’s grown a lot since the beginning,” added Mr. Seltzer smiling broadly at his wife.

“I guess we were somehow meant to do this.”

The couple, who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in June, happened upon the gift shop business completely by chance.

“In my former life, I owned a dental lab, so I had a lot of tools perfect for jewelry-making,” said Mr. Seltzer, 74, adding that his first creative project was a gift for his wife.

“We were at the mall and she saw this little gold tricycle charm she liked at one of the jewelry stores.”
