Hallmark store at Greenville Mall introduces laser-engraved gifts
When Paul Dixon walked into the January Gift Show in Atlanta, he was looking for some new gifts to put in his store, not an entirely new business model. But when Dixon, who with his wife, Janet, owns Jan’s Hallmark in the Greenville Mall, saw the P. Graham Dunn Personalization Center, he knew it was something unique that he wanted to offer his customers.
“I’ve been in this business for 28 years and this is by far the most exciting thing to come along,” Dixon said. “We are the only store in the area you can walk into, and 10 minutes later you walk out with a unique gift with the recipient’s name engraved on it.”
Jan’s Hallmark has carried other personalized gifts — mugs, ornaments, bracelets, jewelry and other items— but they only come with certain names.
“We were always disappointing customers who couldn’t find a certain name,” Dixon said. “Now we can engrave any name or monogram on over 180 different products. We can also add the event, (birthday, anniversary, new baby, wedding, retirement, etc.) season and date to most items.”
