Highlights at Christmasworld

Christmasworld Trends now for the first time in Hall 11.1

Delight customers, offer them new products, surprise them with great sales promotions – the demands on retailers are enormous. So it’s all the more important for the people in charge to know what the trends are, to take new ideas on board and to bring their own know-how right up to date. Christmasworld in Frankfurt is a perfect source for this. Alongside new products from some 1,000 exhibitors, the world’s leading trade fair for festive decorations has numerous inspiring exhibitions, events and lectures in store for its visitors.

Here is the updated list of the highlights and new features of Christmasworld from 25 to 29 January 2013 in Frankfurt am Main:

Exclusive: Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for “Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs et Christmasworld”
Hall 11.1 C10
Christmas prêt-à-porter: fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is the man responsible for the 2013 Christmasworld Tree. This rockstar of the catwalk is internationally renowned for his outlandish “comic couture”. He has designed his own personal interpretation of the Christmas symbolism for the charity promotion “Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs et Christmasworld”. The result is not only to be presented in Hall 1.1 at Christmasworld; trade visitors will also have the chance to win this unique exhibit. With the acquisition of this designer tree, Christmasworld continues its involvement with the “Association Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs” as its main sponsor, for the second time. The proceeds from this exclusive creation will go, as last year, to the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation L’enfant@l’hôpital.

New: photo exhibition “Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs et Christmasworld”
Hall 11.1 C10
For 17 years now, this charity initiative has been inviting the best designers from the world of design – from fashion to industrial design – to produce their very own personal Christmas creation, which is then auctioned at a fundraising event. This year, more than 30 trees are available for the auction. Amongst their designers are top names such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, who designed last year’s Christmasworld tree, Dior, Dsquared2, Les Garçons, Olivia Putman and Stella McCartney. In Paris, the designers never cease to amaze people with their extraordinary creations and provide a ground-breaking source of inspiration for all those who set store by having something really special for Christmas. With this in mind, Christmasworld is, for the first time, presenting all the designs in an exclusive photo exhibition for their professional visitors in Hall 11.1.

On the move: Christmasworld Trends 2013/2014
Now in Hall 11.1 E20
The Christmasworld Trend Show is the first point of call when it comes to getting valuable inspiration and reliable advice on the constant changes of fashion. Now the Trend Show itself is on the move and is taking up residence in Hall 11.1 – in the middle of the core section, Christmas Decoration. The 2013/14 trends for this season combine the joy of decoration and cosy atmosphere with individuality and creativity. So the four styles, “Precious Jungle”, “Fantasy Forest”, “Glowing Desert” and “Gracious Coast”, impressively illustrate four completely different characters, the flavour of each of which they present in creative ways. .

In their lavish special show, design consultants bora.herke.palmisano invite professional visitors to immerse themselves in each of these displays and to let themselves be inspired by the new additions to the decorations and product ranges. As in previous years, the products used are labelled with the name of the exhibitor and the stand number which is a great practical help when ordering. The design consultants give talks every day at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and conduct personal guided tours through the Trend Show.

Creative: Christmas Garden Market competition
Foyer of Hall 11.0, North
The horticultural industry is blooming with imagination. So, for the new “Christmas Garden Market” competition, everything revolves around the most creative presentations and promotions relating to the “celebration of love”. Be it traditional, trendy, emotional or modern: the award honours garden centres and specialist horticultural retailers that show particular creativity and the courage to explore new paths in their presentation of goods and product ranges. In Germany, the competition is organised by Christmasworld, the German Association of Garden Centres (VDG) and the trade journal ‘DEGA Grüner Markt’. In the Netherlands, it is Christmasworld, the creative studio 2Dezign and the TPKMedia Partners publishing company that organise the award. The first three respective nominations will be presented as part of the Christmasworld Forum in the Foyer of Hall 11.0. The grand award ceremony will take place on the same stage on Sunday 27 January 2013 at 4:30 p.m. for Germany and 5:30 p.m. for the Netherlands.

Seductive: clear the decks for Window Wonderland
Hall 9.0 D90
Surprise, inspire and enchant: anyone who goes Christmas shopping is all too ready to be persuaded to make purchases. In Window Wonderland, 2Dezign showcases unique shop window decorations to this end. In the large special show in Hall 9.0, the Dutch design studio is constructing a complete funfair, including a carousel, Ferris wheel and stalls in oversized shop windows. These unusual product displays provide a setting for exuberant decoration and a mix of fresh and artificial flowers. A particular highlight is the virtual mirror, an installation which uses the technology of augmented reality (AR). “We want to show how retailers can continue to surprise and inspire their customers through creativity on the one hand and by thinking beyond the confines of their own horizons, on the other. The virtual mirror is all part of it; we invite visitors at the fair to take an active role themselves and to discover the unexpected in the virtual world,” says Rudi Tuinman of 2Dezign.

Ever popular: German Christmas Crafts
Hall 11.1 F40
Success right down the line: for the first time at Christmasworld 2013 craftspeople and manufacturers will be presenting their Christmas creations in the new “German Christmas Crafts” area. This concept has greatly appealed to manufacturers, so that the space reserved for it has rapidly become fully booked. More than ten selected exhibitors are showcasing the very finest work in wood, glass and porcelain and bridging the gap between living tradition and original innovation. This means that international trade visitors get a compact overview of contemporary craftsmanship “made in Germany” and meet exhibitors who can deliver anything from one-off custom-made products to larger volumes both within and outside Germany.

Right up to date: over 20 lectures and events in the Christmasworld Forum
Foyer of Hall 11.0, North
The first Christmasworld Forum in Hall 11.0 begins with over 20 specialist lectures, live demonstrations, panel discussions and award ceremonies. The live stage offers know-how and much more for all those who want to stand out from the crowd and to keep on winning back their customers again and again. The specialist programme is targeted at florists, decorators and retailers, as well as operators of DIY stores and garden centres. On all five days of the fair, high-profile speakers will pass on not only some forward-looking strategies for retailers but also some tried and tested tips and tricks of the trade for increased success. The speakers will include Petra Schwörer, Burkhard Treude, Alexander Limbrock, Rupert Fey and Magdalena Lötzer. On the Sunday of the trade fair, moreover, the “Christmas Garden Market” award will be presented. Whether for shopping centres, shopping arcades, hotels, airports or public institutions: trade buyers, looking for specialists in innovative solutions for products or decoration, will find them even more quickly now at Christmasworld 2013. For the new special interest “Concept Decorations” label leads fair visitors straight to exhibitors who offer ranges of products specifically for professional large-scale and outdoor decoration.
