IFDA Hosts “Designing For Aging” Program At Ad Show

New York, New York, : The New York Chapter of the International Furniture and Design Association (IFDA) will host a free panel discussion, “Designing for the ‘A’ Word” on Thursday, March 17 from 1 -2 p.m. at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show’s Theatre at Pier 94 at the Westside Highway at West 55th Street in New York City. This event, which has been underwritten by the IFDA Educational Foundation, will be followed by a networking reception at the Electrolux Culinary Pavilion sponsored by 7 W New York, NKBA and Electrolux.

A dialogue on the practice and profitability of designing for the aging market will be discussed – highlighted by the changes in products and technology that allow boomers and seniors to remain comfortably and gracefully in their homes.

Florence Perchuk, IFDA, a kitchen designer and industry spokesperson, will moderate the panel of experts including Eric Cohen, AIA, architect and author; Rosemary Bakker, ASID, interior designer and gerontology specialist; Louis Tenenbaum, CAPS consultant to the construction industry on ‘aging in place’ and Mary Jo Peterson, NKBA, an interior designer and authority on universal design.
