Hassocks, West Sussex — Here’s something you don’t hear every day: Hassocks has arrived on the style scene! Jemma Bellm and Nicky Priddle have created an inspiring one-stop shop for gorgeous gifts, fabulous jewellery and accessories, stationery and homewares.

Step onto stripped parquet flooring, past the iconic Balzac leather armchair, and let your eyes pan across the wealth of handpicked goodies on display. This is my kind of shop: where romantic chic meets minimalist cool.

Up a few steps to the main retail area and the shop reveals itself in all its splendour: Bath products by Nougat and bath house, Bombay Duck make-up bags and hand embroidered ones by Hunky-Dory, candles and girlie gifty things, bejewelled notebooks. There’s Nigella’s tableware and Orla Kiely retro style mugs… oh-so-soft leather Urbancode handbags… silk scarves in vibrant colours… need I go on?

Jemma and Nicky’s tastes complement each other perfectly. “I like pink and hearts and Jemma is very bling,” laughs Nicky. “That’s a great combination because we can stock a wide range of styles and appeal across all ages.” Working together for the past three years in Nicky’s Brighton gift shop Living at Fiveways, they know and appreciate how each other ticks. Their chemistry is palpable as they talk animatedly about the fantastic reponse they’ve had from local customers, brimming over with excitement about this new venture.
