Industry Veterans Launch Stock The Shop, an Online Marketplace Offering Deals To Retailers in the Gift and Gourmet Industry

Retailers can now take advantage of the daily deal phenomenon with the launch of Stock The Shop (www.stocktheshop.com), an online marketplace that links retailers and wholesalers through great deals. Stock The Shop will debut at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® January 11- 18, 2012, Building 3, 4th Floor, Booth 509B.

Unlike traditional deal sites, Stock The Shop requires that all members be approved resellers; no general consumers are permitted to purchase through the site. Wholesalers only pay a commission on products sold.

“David Ogilvy, a giant the advertising world, often said ‘99% of advertising doesn’t sell much of anything'” says Carolyn Evans, co-founder of Stock The Shop. “Through Stock The Shop, wholesalers can connect with a vetted, targeted group of retailers who are looking to buy products. And the Wholesalers only pay a fee when they actually sell something.”

On the flip side, retailers who have been approved after completing an online registration can purchase new products at a discounted price to test their markets.

Here’s how it works: Each week deals are offered to approved members by a wholesale vendor through www.stocktheshop.com. When the DEAL comes up, retailers can buy it. Once retailers purchase the voucher from Stock The Shop, they receive an email with pertinent sales codes. They can then call the wholesaler directly to place an order. Members must be approved wholesale buyers to shop; approval usually takes less than 24 hours.

— Sharon Federico, who has more than 15 years marketing, design and web development experience for companies including Visual Connections and Panasonic Interactive;
