Delhi — The long and narrow building at 95 Main Street has hosted many ventures over the decades. Kaatskill Gifts and Kollectibles has been here for nine years, the latest enterprise to compete for trade from the diminutive structure on this village’s commercial drive.

After moving to Delhi in 1968 — too late for patronizing 95 Main when it was a restaurant — Kaatskill’s owner, Cheryl Greenfield, found herself inside the place at various times for different reasons.

When it was a hair salon, she regularly sat in one of its chairs for cutting and styling work.

Later, when a radio station occupied the address, she had visited the broadcaster’s offices.After that, when an insurance company operated from the former studios, she had come through the front door to purchase policies.

In December 1998, in search of a base for the card-and-gift shop she had always wanted for herself, the little building beckoned Greenfield. The insurance company had moved to larger offices.
