Kids Placemats and Tumblers Dish up Fun and Faith

Abbey Press is introducing a fun, bright collection of placemats and tumblers designed to delight children, while delivering prayerful, praiseful messages. The new line, “All Creatures Great and Small,” is already generating attention from key accounts, and Lifeway Christian Stores will sell the tumblers in its 160 stores.

The line, which is available to retailers July 1, 2013, includes four plastic placemats ($2.50 SRP each) and four 16 oz. plastic tumblers ($10.00 SRP each). Whimsical creatures – an owl, butterfly, caterpillar and ladybug – adorn the tumblers and placemats. Each item also features a kid-friendly sentiment and Scripture verse, reminding children of God’s love and blessings.

Artists Ashley Verkamp and Amie Jones collaborated on the illustrations for the line. Verkamp says the vision was “to create a fun and inspirational product assortment for children, using functional items to put an uplifting message in front of them at mealtime.” The designs appeal to kids “through the use of bright, bold citrusy colors and playful imagery.”

Verkamp feels the sentiments are a strong selling point for the “All Creatures Great and Small” line. “Whether they help children express gratitude for the blessings in their lives in a joyous, lighthearted manner, or inspire them to feel loved and good about themselves, that’s a message to brighten any child’s day.”

The durable polypropylene placemats can be wiped clean and are ribbed on top to keep dishes in place. The double-walled, insulated tumblers are made of BPA-free plastic and keep drinks hot or cold. Each includes a travel lid with an easy-slide opening.
