Local Mompreneur Invents Feeding Solution for Infants

When Chagrin Falls, Ohio native Carrie Crawford (a mother of two), held her baby in a blanket for feedings, two things always occurred. One, the blanket offered no support for the baby and constantly moved. Two, she continually experienced arm and elbow discomfort while sitting and holding the baby. The worst part? When she finally rocked her children to sleep and went to put them down to bed, the blanket would get caught under her arm, waking up the sleeping baby, and thus, starting the process all over again. That’s when she came up with an idea and solution to help parents all over the nation, the Comfy Cradle™.

The Comfy Cradle™ is a simple but practical product that creates a “Why didn’t I think of that?” reaction every time it’s presented. Its convenient and simple design features a soft miniature pillow that wraps around your arm in just the right spot and keeps both baby and mom comfortable. Attached with Velcro, the item is also easily washable and hypoallergenic. In addition to being a practical feeding solution, this product also creates the perfect position for nursing and bottle feedings, which helps aid in better digestion as well as prevents reflux in infants.

“When it came to the concept of the Comfy Cradle™, I kept thinking, there has to be some way that a baby can be secure and comfortable, while also allowing me to be comfortable,” said Crawford. “It became my own personal mission to come up with a solution to this everyday problem that mothers and family members face. So, after a lot of imagining, drawing, and a few prototypes, the Comfy Cradle™ was born!”

For Crawford, prototypes quickly turned into working models, which then lead her to seek out a local manufacturing company to keep up with the demand and popularity of the product. Within the past year, the Comfy Cradle™ has begun to make its way into homes around the country. Crawford has utilized the power of social media and Etsy to sell her product online. In addition, she also has taken to the direct consumer market and has sold her product at various fine art and craft events around the region.

“Probably my favorite part of this journey so far has been the ability to connect with other like-minded parents who have experienced the same frustrations that I have. It has been such a fulfilling experience to present them with a solution,” said Crawford. “It’s really exciting to see my idea that was once a drawing on a piece of paper, come to life before my eyes and have someone interested in using it in their household,” continued Crawford.

For those interested in the Comfy Cradle™, the versatile product easily fits in diaper bags, making it perfect for those traveling or needing to feed on the go. It also comes in a variety of colors and patterns, making it not only practical, but also fun! The product, makes a great gift for new moms, aunts, uncles, grandparents, baby showers, or as a gift for the holidays. You can also purchase the Comfy Cradle™ directly from the company’s website at www.comfy-cradle.com

When asked, Crawford hopes to continue to take Comfy Cradle™ to new markets and grow her business throughout the local region and country. “If someone had asked me before if I ever saw myself as an entrepreneur or mompreneur one day, I would have laughed,” said Crawford. “But now, the possibilities seem to be endless. I’ve come so far in a year that I can only imagine the opportunities for Comfy Cradle™ moving forward.”
