Long Beach, CA – The recent and unexpected arrival of a “cash mob” helped the owner of a California Heights vintage store put some money in the register after a summer that saw decreased business due to nearby construction.

The Vintage Emporium, a cozy store where bird cages, skeletal Halloween decorations and a plethora of pins and pendants can be found inside what was initially a 1920s office building, has had a rough summer, owner Julie Woolley said.

A Long Beach Water Department project taking place around her store’s location near the crossing of Wardlow Road and Orange Avenue made it just about impossible for shoppers to find a place to park, she said. Business was so slow, Woolley considered closing the store, but did not want to put the two college students who work for her out of a job.
