LVDC reveals November ‘First Friday’ topic

Las Vegas Design Center’s (LVDC) “First Friday” educational sessions continue with a CEU-credited presentation titled, “Transforming Aging in Place to Aging with Grace in the Kitchen and Bath,” presented by Brizo on Nov. 3 at World Market Center Las Vegas.

“The November First Friday session will delve into the ins and outs of updating kitchen and bath styles for aging populations, and how to incorporate universal designs in these spaces,” said Cain Brodie, general manager of LVDC. “Designers will learn how to update these spaces broadly and on a case-by-case basis in a collaborative, educational environment.”

By analyzing the relationship between growing older and the adaptation of universal design, Brizo — a line within the European Bath | Kitchen | Tile & Stone showroom — will address design that ensures the safety and aesthetics for customers aging in place.

Topics of discussion will cover: the value and necessity of creating a living space that allows homeowners to comfortably and gracefully age-in-place; the key principles for Universal Design in kitchens and baths; explanations of situations where products need to be ADA-compliant versus simply meeting ADA standards; and definitions of kitchen and bath products that meet the practical and aesthetic needs of homeowners for gracefully aging-in-place. This one-hour session will offer 1 CEU credit to attendees.

The November “First Friday” session will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, in LVDC Seminar Room, A240. Registration is required.
