National Company Takes Reins for Alamo Gift Shop Transformation
San Antonio, TX – Marking the start of a new era for the shrine, a private, national vendor specializing in retail sales at visitor sites assumed operational control of the Alamo Gift Shop on Monday.
While visitors can expect few changes in the short term, the store will move temporarily to Alamo Hall, on the opposite end of the 4.2-acre complex, as the 76-year-old gift shop is renovated in January. The result of the renovation will be a store that extends the Alamo experience beyond the Alamo church and Long Barrack, said Mark Loeffler, spokesman with the Texas General Land Office.
“It becomes part of the visit,” said Loeffler, whose agency hired Event Network, based in San Diego, Calif., to run the shop.
