National Stationery Show to present largest product showcase in 62-year history
White Plains, NY – The National Stationery Show (NSS) will solidify its position as North America’s largest discovery zone for social stationery products, May 18-21, 2008, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, as nearly 400 cutting-edge new products are introduced to some 15,000 attendees within the New Product Display. From the latest wedding invitations and bridal accessories, to eco-friendly stationery lines, unique party favors, desk accessories and lifestyle gifts, the New Product Display is a must-see feature of the upcoming market.
“This year’s New Product Display will captivate attendees,” said Patti Stracher, show manager. “The products featured exemplify creativity, forward-thinking and remarkable use of environmentally-friendly materials. The display is the largest to date, demonstrating a healthy industry and significant surge in new products on the Show floor.”
All products within the New Product Display will be considered for Best New Product Awards, as the display serves as the judging arena. Awards will be presented in 12 distinct product categories – Desk Accessories, Lifestyle/Specialty Gift, Luxury, Paper Craft/Scrapbooking, Party and Social Stationery – as well as an eco-friendly “Think Green” equivalent to each of these categories. In addition, a group of esteemed, veteran buyers will select the Delegates’ Choice Award Winner. The display is located at the rear of the 3,200-3,300 aisles.
Among the highlights of the 2008 New Product Display are:
All Things Bridal
Buyers seeking the latest invitations, announcements and accessories for the thriving bridal market will discover new products down every aisle. The Bonnie Marcus Collection will showcase its new Bridal Tote Set, a stylish gift set for the bride-to-be featuring a pair of fashion-forward flip flops packaged in an embroidered tote bag. Cast Paper Art will feature “Meant to Bee,” a line of invitations and announcements that blossom into perennial wildflowers when planted, attracting and nurturing the endangered Honey Bee. A highlight of the EK Success booth will be Martha Stewart Occasions, a range of simple, beautiful and affordable products including customizable invitations, favors, decorations and guest books. Wedding Belle Favors will introduce its new Bride & Groom Sachet Place Card Holders, each handmade with satin and filled with a fragrant lavender scent.
“Think Green”
More than 100 eco-friendly products will be found in the New Product Display, across all product categories. Bitesize Cardstm will introduce Cupcake Delight, the company’s signature handmade cupcake greeting card made from textured card stock, red shirt buttons and hand-stamped. The cupcake bottom is made from discarded corrugated cardboard, such as Starbucks Coffee sleeves. Cat Seto will feature its Eco-Calendar, made from 100 percent post consumer fiber and certified chlorine-free paper.
Each 4.25″ x 5.5″ calendar month features a different illustration. Calendars can be mailed back to Cat Seto at the end of the year for recycling and a 10 percent discount on the next year’s calendar. Charm Somebody will introduce “Hoping You – Find Your Path,” a richly illustrated greeting card printed on recycled paper from trees that are sustainably harvested and processed at a “clean mill.” Each card comes with an engraved pewter charm, echoing the sentiment of the greeting. Copper Willow Paper Studio will present its Stationery Album, a line of eco-friendly, hand letterpressed, personalized stationery. The papers are green-e certified, made with wind power, chlorine free and carbon-neutral, with 100 percent recycled and chlorine free envelopes.
Party
From favors to gift wrap, the National Stationery Show continues to serve as the top destination for sourcing new party products. Lisa J. Tanner Company will feature its Wine Openers, a two-ply, die-cut tag with a hinged opening that reveals a hidden, quirky message. When attached to a wine glass with its nickel-plated bead chain, the tags help identify your own wine glass in a party setting. The Fab Fob Company will showcase Fobbie, a 4-inch square or round card that is adorned with a greeting or personal photo. Slots in the Fobbie allow ribbon to be weaved through in opposite directions, cinching the package tightly and eliminating the need for bows that are easily crushed. Also, J Hartley Designs will present PARTY TENTZ – glittered, two-piece imprintable place cards for any special event. The 62nd annual National Stationery Show will be held Sunday, May 18, through Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The Show will feature 1,300 exhibitors and attract some 15,000 attendees.
