Two old friends open Olley Court, a home design and gift storeBy Betsy BrandAcorn-Online.com

There are ostrich eggs on Main Street in Ridgefield.

They’re right in front of the twisted, large choker vine from Bali, and large, green moss balls.

These unique items are part of the eye-catching display in the window of Olley Court, 418 Main Street, Ridgefield’s newest home design and gift store. It is owned by Susan Buzaid of Redding and her friend, Robin Curnan of Ridgefield.

“Passersby do a double-take, smile and often stop in for a better look,” said Ms. Buzaid. “Everything we feature here is organic, special, original and welcoming, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring these beautiful things to Ridgefield.”

Ms. Buzaid and Ms. Curnan opened Olley Court with the intent of “combining ecology and elegance, and bringing the beauty of the outside world, inside.” The furniture, accessories, jewelry and gifts offered in the shop are all of the highest quality, and many were inspired by nature. “We chose clean, hip furnishings, gorgeous pottery and unique gifts from around the globe, and glamorous accessories to add a bit of sparkle and warmth,” said Ms. Curnan. “We want to help our clients beautify their homes in an affordable, contemporary style that reflects their individuality.”

Whether you live in a condo, cottage or castle, Ms. Buzaid said, “your home should be a haven where you can escape the rushed pace and demands of a hectic lifestyle.” Updating your home doesn’t have to be an expensive and overwhelming task either, she added. “Throws and pillows add texture to furniture and are a good way to update a room at a low cost,” Ms. Buzaid said. “Additionally, one large dramatic piece can say more than a few collectibles.”

Incorporating ecological pieces into your decor is an ideal way to keep a home fresh, no matter what your style, the owners said. The store’s wide selection of usable art inspired by nature includes decoupage glass flower trays, polished shells in turquoise or melange, hand-crafted wood frames and pedestals, and horns (and those polished ostrich eggs, of course). Ms. Buzaid stressed that all the animal products featured in Olley Court are by-products: Horns that have been shed, etc.
