New Richland store offers antiques and gifts
New Richland, MN – Businesses don’t often start up by accident.
That was not the case, however, for Trish’s Gift Gallery in New Richland.
Trish Buyuk moved to New Richland from Wills Point, Texas, over two years ago with no intentions of opening an antique and gift shop on Broadway of the small town. It just happened.
“I started with an indoor garage sale and then I had some people want to donate some stuff to me,” Buyuk, owner of Trish’s Gift Gallery, said. “Then I had some people who wanted to put some stuff in the store and it became an antique and gift shop.”
Owning and operating her own antique and gift store is something Buyuk said had never even crossed her mind until it happened by chance in New Richland. Prior to opening the shop, she worked as a truck driver, a mental health provider and in retail.
Since the shop opened in July 2008, the inventory has continued to grow. Buyuk said some of the knick-knacks and what-nots that line the walls and displays of Trish’s Gift Gallery came from donations, while others were things purchased at garage and estate sales and auctions.
