New York International Carpet Show Moves to 7W New York

New York, NY — 7 W New York is proud to host the fifth annual New York International Carpet Show (September 20-22), the world’s leading trade show of high-end decorative and Oriental carpets. Trade professionals will discover the most current and innovative products by visionary artisan weavers, including new introductions, creative collections, and must-have one-of-a-kinds. 7 W’s popular Designer Day series will take place during NYICS with a panel discussion on the design value of the decorative and Oriental rug led by prominent designer and author Roderick N. Shade.

A complimentary lunch, sponsored by 7 W, will follow the presentation. Interior designers, architects, specialty carpet retailers and design showroom managers are especially encouraged to attend this free educational event.

According to Dennis Dodds, owner of the show, “Our aim is to increase the exposure, leads and sales of our exhibitors and to do this at an attractive trade show in the middle of Manhattan. Centrally located, 7 W increases our visibility, and elevates the brands of our artisan carpet makers who exhibit at NYICS. It also extends our reach into a larger and more varied pool of buyers.”

Chris Collins, vice president and general manager, 7 W New York, adds, “The NYICS is a perfect partner for 7 W. The Rug Market is a very important part of our business and we look forward to bringing additional value to this market and many years of success as we partner with Dennis and his team here in New York.”

Designer Day highlights:
Monday, September 21 – 11:30 a.m. Panel Discussion
Build Your Project from the Ground Up: The Decorative and Oriental Rug as Design Inspiration
Moderated by Roderick N. Shade, renowned Harlem-based designer, founder of the acclaimed Harlem United Show House and celebrated author of Harlem Style: Designing for the New Urban Aesthetic, a panel of well known designers and dealers will discuss the aesthetic impact and increased efficiency of selecting the carpet at the beginning of the design process, rather than leaving it to the end as an afterthought.

There will be useful discussions and case studies regarding the process designers go through to source handmade carpets from retail and showroom stock, and how they establish specifications for custom carpets made to order.

The NYICS will run in tandem with the annual NY Market Week (Sept. 21 – 25), which is organized and operated by New York and New Jersey rug importers.
