NY NOW Offers “Only in New York” Events This Winter
Several “Only in New York” events – including the New York market’s popular “Night on Broadway”, free market week museum admission and two industry awards events – are among highlights of the winter edition of NY NOW™, the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), February 1-6, 2014, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94.
“New York City is a distinctive destination, offering events and experiences you can’t find anywhere else,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “NY NOW participants will have access to a variety of unique ‘Only in New York’ offerings during market week this winter.”
A perennial market week favorite, the NY NOW “Night on Broadway” on Tuesday, February 4, will feature MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL. Tickets, normally priced at $147, are specially-priced at $109 for market participants, and can be purchased online at www.nynow.com/programs. MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL revolves around the early days of Motown, charting Berry Gordy’s from featherweight boxer to the music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and more. Market participants also qualify for free admission, and a shopping discount, at MAD (Museum of Arts and Design), during the winter 2014 market. From Friday, January 31– Thursday, February 6, MAD is offering complimentary admission and a 20% discount on full priced items at The Store at MAD, upon presentation of a winter 2014 market badge. Two notable industry events will take place during market week. On Monday, February 3, Gift For Life holds its 22nd Anniversary “Party for Life” Fundraiser at the Central Park Boathouse. The event and award ceremony will celebrate gift and home industry achievement, while raising funds for DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. On Tuesday, February 4, the 11th annual Housewares Design Awards Gala & Ceremony will honor the best products in 13 categories including Tabletop, Cookware, Bakeware, Lighting, Home Décor and Outdoor Living and others.
