A Thread of Blue was created in 2011 by sisters-in-law and close friends, Debbie Rosmarin and Rachel Albert. The women share a love of family, friends and community involvement. They created the company to recognize rites of passage, special occasions and milestones in a contemporary style.
“The Torah directs us to include a blue thread among the tzitzit (fringes) of a tallis (prayer shawl). In Biblical times, the blue dye was extracted from a rare snail only affordable to royalty. Today, most tallit have threads of blue running through them, symbolizing equality. A Tallis envelops us in ritual while the color blue links us to the limitless sky and our spirituality,” says the co-founder Debbie Rosmarin.
