On the Job: Gift Shop Operator
North East, MD – How did you get your start? I had always wanted to open a shop. When I talked to Kathy we both wanted a shop that would be embellishments for your home. The more we talked, the more excited it became. On Saturdays and Sundays, we put out furniture and such. We offer fun things for the home; nothing that you need, just things you want. Gift items for birthdays or showers. I have been refurbishing old furniture lately. I paint the items, put a new seat covering on it and put it in the shop.
How did you train for the job? I have been shopping all of my life. We try to keep it very unique.
