New York Home Textiles Market Week Announces Best New Product Winners for Winter 2008

New York, NY – Shades of India was awarded “Best of Market” yesterday in the New York Home Textiles Market Week Best New Product Awards competition. Awards also were presented in four product-specific categories (Bed, Bath, Dining and Home Accessories) to winners and finalists selected by a prestigious panel of trade and consumer editors. Criteria included innovation in design, creative use of materials/construction and new fiber, material or technology.

The winners and finalists are:

BEST OF MARKET:

Shades of India (New Delhi, India) for its Floating Bloom Duvet, designed with hand-appliqued circles to represent floating lotus leaves.

BED CATEGORY:

Winner: Traditions (Claverack, NY) for its Clay Palazzo Duvet by Charlotte Moss – made from French gaufraged ultra suede, representing “a return of the Ottoman Empire.”

Finalist: Blissliving Home (Rockville, MD) for its Carrie Comforter Set.

Finalist: F.lli Graziano fu Severino (Biela, Italy) for its luxury cashmere collection.

BATH CATEGORY:

Winner: Matouk (New York, NY) for its Auberge 650 gram Egyptian cotton, double twist terry towels, in decorative monogrammed relief letters.

Finalist: Forza & Home (Berkeley, CA) for its traditional Turkish Haman Towel collection.

Finalist: Peacock Alley (Dallas, TX) for its Bamboo Basic Towel/Bamboo Rug.

DINING CATEGORY:

Winner: Matteo (Los Angeles, CA) for Folk – hemstitch and hand-embroidered tablecloth that is garment-dyed and washed, replicating 100-year-old linens.

Finalist: Madeira Embroideries (Madeira Island, Portugal) for its tablecloth with flowers in linen application.

Finalist: Valentine Fine Italian Home Linens (Santa Monica, CA) for its Naughty Nighttime Pillows.

HOME ACCESSORIES CATEGORY:

Winner: Fino Lino (Ocean Township, NJ) for its Tokyo Jacquard throw pillows and sofa throws – a multiple collage of retro geometric shapes and gem colors.

Finalist: Anne De Solene (Bedford, NY) for its personalized tea towels

Finalist: V Rugs & Home (Miami, FL) for its decorative pillow.

New York Home Textiles Market Week offers buyers access to nearly 500 better bed, bath, linen and home products vendors at the New York International Gift Fair (Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Metropolitan Pavilion and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers), 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 West 34th Street. Products represented include bed and bath fashions, table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics.
