Talking Business: Love for photos leads to shop
Last fall, Kari Kosa was entering her second year of graduate school, studying history at Marylhurst University near Lake Oswego.
Now, the 28-year-old mother of three is the owner of a West Longview portrait studio and gift shop called The Purple Bumblebee.
“I always wanted to teach history at a community college,” Kosa said last week. “But children change your priorities.”
Kosa, who studied art history and fine art at Washington State University as an undergraduate, became caught up in the world of photography.
“I was taking pictures and my passion for photography took off,” she said.
Some of her pictures are displayed in her new shop. They feature her husband and three children, ages 1, 2 and 3. Half of her business is a portrait studio and the other half is a boutique gift shop.
