Queen Anne shop helping lost socks find their mate
Seattle, WA – Walking around the neighborhood, a Queen Anne shop owner found herself feeling sad seeing all the poor lost socks lying alone on the sidewalk, in the street or on fences. So, she decided to do something to help them find their mates.
Lauren Formicola, owner of Charley+May gift gallery, started May’s Lost Sock Depository last month, putting up posters around the neighborhood asking people to bring in lost socks, mittens and hats.
She put the socks on display in her window at 2225 Queen Anne Ave. N. People are welcome to come look for a match for their missing sock. For every successful match, Formicola will donate one pair of new socks to Treehouse Foster Care.
“I have had a lot of little socks come in – like little, poor pink socks, or little striped socks that have been found in the dirt, or somebody found a sock on a fencepost and they will bring it in,” Formicola told KOMO’s Kiyomi Taguchi. “Hopefully, we will find matches for all these lost socks.”
