When Craig Harms, co-owner of Restoration Gardens, took his team to landscape a building along Sheboygan’s riverfront two years ago, he paused to admire the store’s spacious interior and beautiful views of the river and sparkling lakefront.

“We said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to have a store in such a pretty location?'” Harms recalled. “But we didn’t give a second thought to it.”

In the back of his mind, though, a seed was planted, and when it came time for Restoration Gardens to open a second location, the light cocoa building along the riverfront beckoned.

The new location at 340 South Pier Drive opened May 1, and it didn’t take long for its 2,500 square feet to be filled with the eclectic pieces Restoration Gardens is known for.

Having an enclosed space that could be heated in winter also provided several bonuses — now, Harms and co-owners Brian Grimm and Dave Platz, can keep a gift shop open year-round and sell the furniture he’s always wanted to, but couldn’t, due to the dust created by the landscape division at the Kohler store.
