Service, selection draw customers to The Front PorchBy R. Kurt OsenlundBucksLocalNews.com

Through a difficult year, patrons have stuck by the Pennington business, thanks to its premium products and optimum service.

The name of the Pennington gift shop The Front Porch, located at 24 S. Main St., is nearly as inviting as, well, its front porch, which is currently adorned with festive lights and decorations, and where a door is propped open, beckoning potential shoppers to come inside and discover the store’s many treasures.

According to store owner Chris Murphy, a Pennington resident who purchased the 30-year-old shop roughly 12 years ago, the selection at The Front Porch is indeed a major draw, but optimum service is what keeps the customers coming back.

“We really try to be a little Nordstrom’s,” Murphy says, adding that she’s a true believer in the “customer’s always right” philosophy. “People come from all over, and we like to think they come for the customer service.”

Hamilton resident Lisa Herrera, who was seen shopping in the store not long before its holiday open house on Sunday, Nov. 22, concurs.

“It’s worth the trip coming here,” Herrera says. “It’s the best store in the world.”

Unsurprisingly, the holiday season is one of the busiest for The Front Porch, which now carries a handful of hot items sure to please any number of people on customers’ shopping lists. One of the most popular, Murphy says, is Elf on the Shelf, an attractive, nostalgic boxed set that includes a story book and a toy elf reminiscent of those manufactured decades ago.
