Shop Local Program Started In CanmoreBy CanmoreLeader.com

A social media blitz is underway in Canmore as a locals oriented business program has launched in town.

Shop Local Canmore is a local incentive program initiated by Sondy Syzmanis, “for locals to shop local, help the local businesses and the businesses to help the locals.”

Syzmanis said that franchises are restricted. But she hopes the idea will be embraced by businesses throughout town.

“the more businesses we have, the more successful it will be,” she said. Shop Local Canmore is a centralized website for Canmore businesses to promote their locals offers in one location.

She said that she started the venture out of a personal need. She too often shops in Calgary, she said.

But she does see it as a way to support others in the community.

“The people that own these businesses are locals, the staff are locals,” she said.

Syzmanis’s goal is to grow the network of businesses over the summer while business is good.
