Six Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards Presented to NY NOW Exhibitors

Six companies were named Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Award winners today in connection with the winter 2014 edition of NY NOW™, the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), which runs Saturday, February 1, through Thursday, February 6, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. These six honorees also are eligible for NY NOW’s “Best of Lifestyle” Award, which will be determined by online balloting at – www.redclaydesign.com/nynow – during the Market.

Soap & Paper Factory received “Best of Show” honors for its Classic Bubble Bath Collection. Additional awards were presented in the categories of Bath & Body, Beauty Accessory, Cosmetic, Natural/Organic and Packaging. Winners and finalists in each category were selected by a panel of eight trade and consumer publication editors based on several criteria, including innovative design, creative use of materials/construction and use of new materials/technology.

The winter 2014 winners and finalists are:

BEST OF SHOW:

Soap & Paper Factory (Congers, NY) for its Classic Bubble Bath Collection sulfate free, packed with emollient oils and in five fragrances. Bottled in stock liquor bottles, with wine stock label, embossed and silver foiled with a wooden natural cork.

BATH & BODY CATEGORY:

Winner: Hand in Hand (Philadelphia, PA) for its Hand in Hand Candles-Rose. Hand poured in NY, these clean burning candles are made with 100% pure USA sourced GMO free soy wax, with natural essential oils.

Finalist: Serene House (Sturtevant, WI) for its Serene Pod.

Finalist: Farmhouse Fresh (Frisco, TX) for its Three Milk Ageless Moisturizer.

BEAUTY ACCESSORY CATEGORY:

Winner: butter LONDON (Seattle, WA) for its butter LONDON Patent-Gel Top & Tails, a revolutionary duo that puts a patent-leather shine, and long lasting color without Formaldehyde, DBP, Toulene, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor.

Finalist: Nomaterra (Brooklyn, NY) for its Nomaterra Fragrance Wipes.

Finalist: Acca Kappa (Aurora, ON, Canada) for its White Moss Eau de Parfum.

COSMETIC CATEGORY:

Winner: Saavy Naturals (Chatsworth, CA) for its Patchouli Rose Handcrafted Soap, a perfectly balanced mix of pure and natural botanical extracts and essential oils. Vegan, Soy & Gluten Free.

Finalist: butter LONDON (Seattle, WA) for butter LONDON Boho Rock Lacquers.

Finalist: K. Hall Studio (St. Louis, MO) for its Barr-Co. Original Travel Perfume.

NATURAL/ORGANIC CATEGORY:

Winner: San Francisco Soap & Simply Be Well (Fall River, MA) for its All Natural Honey Bee Bar Soaps. The set includes 4 Honey Soaps (4 oz each): Honey, Honey Almond, Honey & Aloe, Honey Oatmeal. Made in USA.

Finalist: Soap Baubles (Proctorsville, VT) for its Floral Truffle Variety Box.

Finalist: The Good Home Company (New York, NY) for The Good Home Company Pet Line.

PACKAGING CATEGORY:

Winner: Olivina (Franklin, TN) for its Wild Cherry Almond Body Butter. Inspired by country landscapes, essential oils are paired with fruity notes of sweet cherry, almond and sandalwood and enriched with olive and grape seed oils and botanical to protect against environmental damage. Naturally Made in USA.

Finalist: Soap & Paper Factory (Congers, NY) for its Snow Drop Soap.

Finalist: Hand in Hand (Philadelphia, PA) for its Hand in Hand Candles-Sea Salt.

“These products in particular stand out for their fresh and innovative approach to personal care product design and function,” said Melissa Engongoro, Personal Care + Wellness sales manager. “We tapped into the judges’ perspectives, based on their daily exposure to product introductions, to identify the best.”

All six winning products automatically qualify for consideration in the NY NOW “Best of Lifestyle” Award, which will be determined through online voting at www.redclaydesign.com/nynow. “Peoples’ Choice” balloting runs February 1-5, and the winner will be announced on February 6.

The Best New Product Award judges were: Mary Bemis, Insider’s Guide to Spas/Spirituality & Health; Tina Benitez-Eves, Gifts & Decorative Accessories; Regina Cooper, Beauty Store Business; Nancy Jeffries, Happi Magazine; Candice Sabatini, Beautynews NYC; Jolene Turner, American Salon; Becky Tyre, GIFT SHOP; and Victoria Wurdinger, Salon Today.
