Summer 2012 Home Textiles Market Week in New York Showcases Top Suppliers & Offers Full Slate of Activities

Home Textiles Market Week®, the largest market for home textiles resources in the United States, returns to New York City August 17- 22, with some 600 bed, bath, linen and home fashion vendors showcased at four venues: NYIGF at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94; 230 Fifth Avenue; and 7 W New York®.

“New York’s market presents buyers with this country’s best home textiles sourcing opportunity, with convenient access to hundreds of suppliers,” said Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM vice president. “It also offers a value-added line up of industry events, educational seminars, promotions and amenities.”

At NYIGF, At Home featuring Home Textiles at the Javits Center presents some 200 suppliers of bed and bath fashions, such as table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics. Newcomers include: Cozy Earth (bamboo textiles), Echelon Home (bedding), HedgeHouse (throw beds, cushions), Le Cote Francais Maison (French vintage and antique furnishings), Poetic Wanderlust (home décor), Pyar & Co. (pillows), Simple Syrup Design House (decorative accessories), Stamattina Fine Linens (bedding) and Wabisabi Green: Modern Home Decor Eco Style (pillows, table linens).

At Home featuring Home Textiles also welcomes a number of key suppliers, returning to NYIGF after an absence from the New York Market, including Anali (bedding, bath accessories), Hamburg House (bedding, towels), Sinobrite (sheets) and Thro (pillows). Additional newcomers to this NYIGF division are Auggie Home Collection (bedding/home accessories), Black Pepper Dessin (pillows) and Dallas Saunders (pillows and throws) – all of which are relocating into At Home featuring Home Textiles from other NYIGF divisions.

Three current exhibitors – Alicia Adams Alpaca (alpaca throws and accessories), Home Treasures (bedding, bath accessories) and Marigot (loungewear) – also are expanding their NYIGF exhibit space for the summer 2013 Home Textiles Market Week.

At the 7 W New York® building, new showroom tenants for summer 2012 include: Alkaram USA (quilt covers/comforters, sheets, curtains, shower curtains, kitchen linen, bedding, fashion apparel); Anand International (fabrics and garments for fashion apparel); Gulamed Textile (fashion apparel, fabrics, dyeing, and textiles); Kalaty Rugs (high-end custom and design collection rugs); Linens N Essentials (bedding, pillows, and home décor); Magna Linen (bedding, pillow, throws, blankets); Nishat Mills USA (bedding, home décor, fabrics); Sam Salem & Son (bedding, bed pillows, home décor, licensed merchandise, living room, bath). Companies with expanded showrooms include Apache Mills (rugs, indoor/outdoor mats, kitchen mats); and S&L Home Fashions (soft blankets, bedding, décor pillows, throws, window curtains, baby lines, licensed merchandise). .

At 230 Fifth Avenue, new showroom tenants include China Fortune (home textiles and top-of-the-bed items); Cody Direct (bedding pieces and bedding sets); Daniel Bath & Beyond/ Daniel Linen Inc. (bath, bed and kitchen products); and Nancy Koltes Fine Linens (linens and decorative home accessories). JOC International (home textiles, decorations, and accessories) has moved into a new showroom, and Star Creations Inc. (wall décor products) has expanded its existing showroom location.

Several educational seminars and social events will supplement Market Week activities. Events at 7W include showroom specials, product launches, live music, complimentary lunch vouchers, extended shopping hours and promotions. At 230 Fifth Avenue, buyer-focused events and amenities include complimentary breakfast and lunch, promotional giveaways, and showroom receptions.

Market Week after-hours networking events will include the 61st Annual Retailer Excellence Awards on Sunday, August 19, at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers; and NYIGF’s “A Night on Broadway” featuring specially-priced tickets to GHOST on Monday, August 20. Throughout Home Textiles Market Week, buyers and suppliers can enjoy free admission to the New York Historical Society, upon presentation of a summer 2012 badge. During Home Textiles Market Week, NYIGF will present three IDCEC CEU-accredited seminars: On Sunday, August 19, “Open House –What’s Hot in Home Design?” moderated by Warren Shoulberg of Sandow Media and featuring panelists Susan Feldman of One Kings Lane and Laurie Pressman of Pantone. On Monday, August 20, New York City’s International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) will host Color Trends and Practical Applications with Doty Horn of Color Voyant and Lisa White of WGSN-Homebuildlife. On Tuesday, August 21, Fashion Group International’s DOUBLE DOSSIER: Fashion Designers on Home. Home Design Redefined, will explore lifestyle trends between the worlds of fashion apparel and home design – and the ways in which designers and manufacturers are influencing the way we live and dress. Lisa White of WGSN-Homebuildlife will moderate the discussion, with panelists: Ralph Rucci of the Ralph Rucci Company, Chris Nicola of HSN and Josie Natori of The Natori Company. As an added bonus for seminar registrants, Ralph Rucci will be signing his lavishly illustrated, limited-edition artist book Autobiography of a Fashion Designer: Ralph Rucci, available for purchase at 20% off retail price.

Select suppliers in At Home featuring Home Textiles at NYIGF will receive “Best New Product” Awards during Home Textiles Market Week. A panel of trade and consumer editors will designate winners in four categories – Bath, Bed, Dining and Home Accessories – and bestow one overall “Best of Market distinction. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, August 21.
