Surface & Pattern Artist Sara Berrenson Debuts at Surtex 2013
Artist Sara Berrenson is expanding her work in surface and pattern design and will debut her art licensing portfolio at Surtex 2013 in NYC. Sara is a designer, flea market aficionado and full time fabric collector with a passion for patterns. She has a love of bright colors and anything and everything floral. Drawing inspiration from nature, interior design, and fashion, Sara’s unique style is contemporary, colorful, and fresh. She works primarily in gouache and watercolor, then adds both hand and computer illustration.
On the weekends you can find her atthe flower mart taking photos for her next watercolor, or at the Rose Bowl Flea Market scouting out antique furniture and vintage fabric. Sara is a zealoustrendspotter, but more importantly she is a trendsetter. With her strong enthusiasm for pattern design, Sara puts a unique and unexpected twist on traditional themes.
With a degree in Fine Arts from CalPoly San Luis Obispo and an emphasis in graphic design, Sara works as a creative professional specializing in packaging, branding, surface and textile design. Sara’s career includes designing for globally-recognized companies such as Mattel and Trader Joe’s, working on licensed brands such as Barbie. Her versatile skill set translates across multiple categories, including fabrics, greeting cards, apparel, and home decor.
In June of 2012, Sara placed fourthin Spoonflower and Robert Kaufman’s national fabric design contest. She was one of 750 entries and was profiled on Spoonflower.com as well as the popular blog, Printpattern.blogspot.com. You can also find her work at Society6.com under the storefront All the Pretties, where her designs can be purchased on items such as iPhone cases, pillows and wall art.
