Pflugerville, TX – The first thing visitors might notice when walking into The Old Prague Market, a gift shop in downtown Pflugerville, is the smell—an aromatic perfume issuing from the many shelves of scented candles.

The Old Prague Market, nestled on the corner of Main Street and Railroad Avenue, was established in 1992, long before many of the businesses that surround it existed. It has survived and flourished—despite both the changing downtown landscape and the recent recession—due in large part to the candles and other scented products made by the Tyler Candle Company, the store’s owners said.

The owners, W.C. and Barbara Kolinek, are a husband-and-wife duo who have been married for 45 years and have two grown sons and three grandchildren. The couple used to own and operate an insurance company in Pflugerville before opening the gift shop.
