Buffalo, NY – Life is sweet for sisters Maggie Guerriero and Anna Hartog, the new owners of Park Edge Sweet Shoppe, which reopened its doors Friday in South Buffalo. The sisters recently purchased the candy store that dates back to 1948 with the hopes of keeping it what it has been since its establishment: a friendly, neighborhood family business.
Guerriero and Hartog are the third familial proprietors of Park Edge, and the shop’s former owners have always made sure their successors would keep it family-owned and operated. From husband and wife to sister and sister, the values that have been embedded in Park Edge since the beginning remain nice and simple: the neighborhood is family, and family is what keeps the place going.
“We want it to be more about the community,” said Hartog. “My sister and I are from South Buffalo, so the neighborhood aspect means a little more to us.”
