Greeting Card Association launches new show in May 2019

The Greeting Card Association’s (GCA) Executive Committee voted unanimously to develop and manage a new trade show that will debut in May 2019 in Brooklyn. The announcement came in an email from GCA President Christy Kaprosy to members on Aug. 6.

The decision to start the show is in lieu of Emerald Expositions moving the National Stationery Show, long held in mid May, to early February, as it will now co-locate with the winter NY NOW market at the Javits Center. The GCA conducted research, which revealed a preference to continue a late spring show.

“This vote was taken following extensive conversations with our membership and interested show management partners, and following careful evaluation of all available research, including two new surveys fielded since May with exhibitors and retailers, and a mock budgeting process,” GCA’s email stated. “The result will be a truly new show, designed to capture all the excitement that our industry can bring, and to deliver ROI to our members.”

The new GCA show, which has yet to be named, is scheduled for May 18-20, 2019, at the Brooklyn Expo Center. GCA’s LOUIE Awards will coincide with the show.
