Thinker Toys, ‘a Joyful Place,’ Celebrates 20 Years in Multnomah Village
Portland, OR – Some toy stores separate their products by gender, offering, as Tye Steinbach terms it, “a pink section and a violent section.” Not so at Thinker Toys. There, kids will find a wide selection of educational and interactive toys mixed in side-by-side with LEGOs and Barbie dolls.
This weekend, the Multnomah Village store will celebrate its 20th anniversary with entertainment, beer tasting, snacks and a storewide sale.
Owners Tye and Joan Steinbach, former science teachers, opened the store in a 330-square-foot space down the street in 1994, and later expanded to their nearly 4,000-square foot space on Capitol Highway.
