Two Staten Island Women Entrepreneurs Customize Clothing That Speaks of Community Solidarity
Staten Island, NY – There’s nothing “wicked” about native Staten Islanders Nancy Nix and Carolyn Aston-Reese, close friends who share stay-at-home mom status, a passion for creative expression, and a thriving embroidery business named Wicked Stitches.
They hit a home run when they developed Neighbor Hoodies – the popular full-zip sweatshirts and hoodies that proclaim community allegiances.
When Patty Curry, owner of Curry’s Claddagh Gift Shop at 605 Forest Ave., saw the products in late 2011, she loved them and ordered forest green West Brighton versions, with appliqued Black Watch plaid shamrocks, to sell in her store.
