Victorian gifts and much more
The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum Shop is under new management.
“There are people in Norwalk who don’t even know this place exists,” said Kathy Gilbertie, the shop’s design coordinator. “We’d like to change that.”
Gilbertie and shop manager Linda DiMeglio took over responsibility for the shop in September 2009. Over the past year, they have been working to revamp the gift shop’s image.
“People think of a museum shop as expensive, but everyone says our prices are very reasonable,” DiMeglio said.
While certainly representative of the museum’s Victorian flavor, the shop can also stand alone, said DiMeglio.
“We want the public to have the perception that we’re a gift shop, but they can shop even if they don’t have the time for a tour,” she said. “We have such wonderful inventory here.”
