Skipper’s is making a comeback.

Actually, the retail business owned by Gladys Wise that was a landmark on Whitemarsh Island for a couple decades has been back since late last fall, but its grand reopening is scheduled for mid-April.

Gladys is recreating the business as Skipper’s of Savannah, and, this time around, her 4,500-square-foot building on Johnny Mercer Boulevard at Cedar Hammock Office Park will be a gift shop and florist.

In its previous existence, Skipper’s was the site of a florist, plant nursery and landscaping business.

The new Skipper’s will offer high-end antiques, home-decor and gift items, jewelry and garden accessories, in addition to being a full-service florist and a creator of custom-crafted silk flower arrangements.
