WILLIAMSBURG and PK Lifestyles Introduce Vibrant Globally-Inspired Collection at Showtime Fabric Market

WILLIAMSBURG and licensee PK Lifestyles expand upon the success of their existing collaborations with a new global chic collection, entitled ‘Entry to the Grand Bazaar,’ debuting at the Showtime Fabric Market, June 2-5. Inspired by the rich colors and intricate detail of Turkish design, each fabric is based upon a document and antique in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation archives and evokes the elegant prints and vibrant colors that can be seen at a modern Turkish bazaar. The resulting textiles embrace timeless international design, translated for contemporary lifestyle.

Echoing Turkish flat-weave carpets, the ‘Palace of Kilim’ print features a weighty stripe in vivid colors while ‘Turkish Screen’ features ogee-shaped designs reminiscent of Middle Eastern stone inlays. Delicate crewelwork similar to that used on traditional Turkish bedcovers and carpets can be found in ‘Esra Embroidery,’ and ‘Bursa Mosiac’ presents the look of geometric tile patterns.

“These textiles have a vintage, well-traveled feeling yet burst with colors and textures one may find today at the Grand Bazaar in Turkey,” Pamela Maffei, Vice President of Design for PK Lifestyles said. “Taken from classically rich 18th-century documents, these designs encompass the needlework, textiles, ceramics, flora and fauna that once made Williamsburg the cultural capital of the new world.”

The collection’s palette includes warm pistachios and camels, as well as vibrant turquoises, cobalts and reds found in Turkish ceramics. The shades lend themselves to seamless integration with the new WILLIAMSBURG Color Collection from Benjamin Moore, which offers a range of trend-forward interior and exterior paint inspired by the rich and unexpected colors of the Revolutionary City and period wallpaper in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s collections.

‘Entry to the Grand Bazaar’ fabrics will be available late summer/early fall and will retail for $44-$112.
