Wise Olde Owl celebrates third anniversary

For Fremont residents looking for the perfect gift, one downtown store has it all.

Whether it is greeting cards, gift towels, baby gifts, jewelry, stuffed animals, candles, hair care products, tea, wine accessories, Husker items, music, or any other number of possible gifts, Wise Olde Owl Gift Shop carries it.

“We think if you can’t find something for a gift for anybody in here, you must have a very hard person to shop for,” Thom Ender, co-owner of the shop, said.

While customers can find any number of themed gifts at the store, located at 439 N. Main Street, one of their main focuses is Halloween related items and collectibles.

“We have been open three years now, we have sold Halloween every month we have been open,” Ender said. “We have been told we have the best Halloween in the world.”

The store, which opened in September of 2015, is currently celebrating its three year anniversary just in time for Enders’, and husband/co-owner Brian Siel’s, favorite time of the year.

“We have really been welcomed into the community and it is just really humbling,” Ender said.

As a way to celebrate their third anniversary, and give back to the customers that make their business possible, the owners of Wise Olde Owl have been celebrating with a number of discounts, free gifts with purchase, and birthday cake.

With the owners love of Halloween, it is no wonder that giving away discounts also involves a quintessential Halloween tradition.

“What we are doing is discounts based on the candy that you pull out of our trick or treat bag, Enders said.

Whichever candy customers pull out of the trick or treat bag determines how big of a discount they will get. Along with getting to enjoy a piece of candy, customers can receive 10, 15, or 20 percent off of their entire purchase.

Along with the discounts they also have birthday cake available as well as Soberdough bread and a variety of olive oils for sampling.

“You just take a bottle of beer, mix it with the dough and pour it in a pan and that is it,” Ender said. “It is really delicious, especially with some of the different kinds of olive oil we sell in the store.”

With Halloween right around the corner, and Christmas not too far past that, now is a great time to head downtown and find any number of specially curated gifts.

“You don’t have to go to Omaha and that is a big thing,” Ender said.

One aspect that makes Wise Olde Owl unique, compared to other gift shops, is their attention to detail and number of locally crafted goods.

The store carries candles that are made by a 14-year-old in Papillion, locally made jewelry and aprons, and Philip B. hair care products from Enders’ personal friend Philip Berkovitz.

This is a very high end hair care line and it is available at the most exclusive salons around the world, we carry it here because Philip is my friend,” Ender said. “Everything we sell has a story.”

The Wise Olde Owl will continue their anniversary celebration through Saturday, and the gift shop is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The store is also open on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
