WMC Las Vegas features ‘Covered’ event

(LAS VEGAS) –— Presentations on well-dressed windows, upholstery fabric selection, color trends and eco-friendly leather are among the many highlights planned for the “covered” event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at Las Vegas Design Center, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway.

Margaret Casey, director of programming for World Market Center Las Vegas, said “designers, students and design aficionados’ are all welcome to attend where they can be inspired and hear from the experts what colors and fabrics are here to stay.”

Many events are scheduled throughout the day at the Las Vegas Design Center:

11 a.m.-12 noon: Las Vegas Design Center Seminar Room, Bldg. C, C-316
In “Beyond the Basics – Creating Cutting-edge Treatments using Classic Contemporary,” Jackie Von Tobel, author of The Design Directory of Window Treatments, will discuss current trends in window treatment design and construction and demonstrate the basic elements of soft treatments in new ways to design unique, cutting edge window fashions.

12 noon – 2 p.m.: “Designer Appreciation” hosted lunch in Building A (designers only)

3 p.m. – 4 p.m. : Las Vegas Design Center Seminar Room, Bldg. C, C-316
“Tricks of the Trade: How to Select Upholstery Fabric so Projects are Problem-free,” led by Steve Avitable, will uncover insights on choosing the most suitable fabric constructions and designs for a variety of furniture styles and frames. The Vice President, Furniture Merchandising for The Robert Allen Group discuss furniture lines such as Bolier & Co., Christopher Guy, E.J.Victor, Ferguson Copeland, Guy Chaddock & Co., Kindel Furniture Co., Payne Street, Swaim and Robert Allen Furniture.

4 p.m. : Reception in the Robert Allen/Beacon Hill Showroom, Bldg. C, Showroom C-101
Las Vegas Design Center showrooms Masterloom, Abbyson, Omnia, Dillon Wells and Prestige Arts will have special hospitality and showcased product during covered. Day-long highlights will include:
