Wrap It Up Gift Shop Opens in TburgBy Katherine ClementIthaca.com

Trumansburg, NY – It took great perseverance and hard work, but Randy and Linda Smith have opened the “Wrap It Up” store in Trumansburg. The store, located on Route 96, just inside the village line near the Tompkins and Seneca county border, offers gift baskets, hand-carved wooden furniture and jewelry.

“We were only going to be open as a pop-up store for Valentine’s [Day], and then close,” Randy said. “I was going to have my surgery and then re-open for Mother’s Day and Easter, but we’ve done so well here that we decided, let’s just keep plugging along.”

It all began with Linda Smith’s enjoyment of wrapping presents and Randy’s itch for something to do while recovering from knee injury. Around Christmas, the Smiths began selling merchandise at a pop-up store called “Spirit and Balance” in Ithaca. Although sales were tepid, the pair gained much in business experience.
