New exhibitors sign on; others expand space at CHA winter show

(ELMWOOD PARK, NJ) – Illustrating the resilience and importance of select trade shows in a down economy, the Craft & Hobby Association 2009 Winter Convention & Trade Show, to be held January 25-28 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, will feature more than 50 new exhibitors and an additional 75 that have expanded their booth space from last year’s event. Gift Card Spending Drops as Budget-Focused Holiday Shoppers Look for Bargains

(Washington) — Shoppers’ price-conscious mentality is taking a toll on the season’s most-requested present: gift cards. NRF’s sixth annual Gift Card Survey, conducted by BIGresearch, found that gift card sales will fall nearly six percent this holiday season to $24.9 billion, down from $26.3 billion last year. Fewer people plan to purchase gift cards this year (53.5% vs. 56.6% last year) and gift card shoppers will be spending less overall on the cards ($147.33 vs. $156.24 in 2007). Read more...

Debra Valencia Inks Contract with American Stationery

(Los Angeles, Calif.) – American Stationery, notably the second largest personalization company in the United States, recently signed a licensing agreement with graphic artist Debra Valencia. Valencia will be their very first licensed artist and featured designer.

Valencia is the brainchild behind California-based innovative stationery company Vida Valencia and is known for her signature contemporary style. The recent license includes 42 distinctive designs for everyday party invitations, as well as note cards with coordinating mailing labels and envelope seal stickers totaling more than 168 new products. CHA announces 2009 slate of board candidates

(Elmwood Park, NJ) -- The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the 2009 slate of candidates recommended for election by the general CHA membership.

The new Board nominees are Georganne Bender of Kizer & Bender Speaking! and Mark Hill of Creativity Inc. Additionally, Rob Bostick of Judikins and Stamp, Stamp, Stamp was nominated for a second term. The nominees will be running for a three-year term on the CHA Board of Directors. Read more...
