Farcountries.com Introduces Children’s Book Line

New York – “If you go into Barnes & Noble or Borders, no one tells you what’s a great children’s book. You buy what your kid pulls off the shelf-usually whatever is face out or on the table. That means someone’s paid a lot of money to get that real estate, but it doesn’t mean it’s the best book,” said Nancy Traversy, founder and CEO of Barefoot Books.

“Our books sell best in independent retail stores where the staff can tell kids or their Mom agreat story about what makes our books different,” continued Traversy. Barefoot books are about educating through enchantment, using wonderful art and an engaging story to expand achild’s mind. These books are also about encouraging respect and tolerance for others. Barefoot Books’ authors honor diversity and expose the wealth of many cultures in the world to young readers.

With such titles as My Daddy Is A Pretzel, How Big Is A Pig, I Took The Moon For A Walk and The Gigantic Turnip, the Barefoot collection is divided into three categories – Fun First steps, One World One Spirit, and Tell Me A story.

“We are pleased to welcome Barefoot Books to the list of unique suppliers who we representonline,” said Joyce Kesler, Senior Vice President, Merchandising for FarCountries.com, “not only are the products truly one of a kind, they are not sold in stores that our retailers findthemselves competing with.” Visit the Barefoot Books collection @ FarCountries.com.

The British company was started in 1993 by two working mothers. The company was born out of the woman’s shared desire to create imaginatively written books that would capture diversity and richness in a playful and accessible way. The U.S. office, established in 1998, is headquartered in Cambridge, MA.

FarCountries.com, an online unit of Company of the Far Countries, Ltd. based in New York City, is a wholesale website for the giftware, home decor, stationery, and gourmet food industries targeting independent retailers in the U.S.
