Basking in gifts
It all began with a rather crummy gift.
Ruth DiGeorge, owner of “A Tisket, A Tasket,” received a gift basket from her employer. The package was ornately decorated and looked extraordinarily exciting.
“It was just horrible,” DiGeorge said. “It was huge and looked impressive but everything inside was unusable or inedible.”
Learning from her employer’s mistake, DiGeorge, then a realtor, began creating her own closing baskets for her clients to celebrate their new addition.
Today, DiGeorge is making baskets for everything from real estate closings to weddings to birthdays to simply celebrating a friendship.
In November of 2005, DiGeorge opened her gift basket and gift store, “A Tisket, A Tasket” as part of the Shoppes on the Village Green in North Suffolk.
